The growth of oyster mushrooms into "spherical mushrooms" means that the oyster mushrooms you planted are deformed. There are many reasons for the abnormal growth of oyster mushrooms. Simply put, it is the environment theory, that is, the environmental conditions do not meet the needs of the growth of oyster mushrooms, which can be solved by adjusting the environmental conditions. As an ordinary grower, we still need to analyze from a simple environment.
The environment in which Pleurotus ostreatus lives and its requirements for the environment are nothing more than temperature, humidity, light and oxygen. These four are also known as the four major factors that affect the growth of Pleurotus ostreatus. As far as we know, changes in these four factors can cause abnormal growth of Pleurotus ostreatus.
1. Temperature. Regardless of whether it is a low-temperature or high-temperature variety of oyster mushroom, there is a limit value for the adaptation to temperature. Once this extreme value is exceeded, the oyster mushroom cannot grow healthily and normally. The maximum temperature limit of oyster mushroom is 30°C. If the temperature exceeds 30°C, the fruiting bodies of Pleurotus ostreatus will have long stalks, large or small but thin caps, and the edges of the caps will crack, and may curl downward or upward, forming deformed mushrooms.
2. Humidity. If the humidity of the compost and the humidity of the space are too low, it will cause the fruiting bodies of Pleurotus ostreatus to shrink, and even die due to lack of water. If the humidity is too high and stays at 95% for a long time, in addition to being prone to infection of miscellaneous bacteria, many small bacteria buds will appear on the mushroom cap, which is very unsightly, and this is also a deformed mushroom.
3. Oxygen. Pleurotus ostreatus planting places, or sheds or houses, are mostly in closed places. If ventilation is insufficient, oxygen will be reduced and the concentration of carbon dioxide will be high. In such an environment, the respiration of the sporocarps of Pleurotus ostreatus will be inhibited, and under the condition of poor breathing, the development must be poor, which will also cause the growth of Pleurotus ostreatus to be deformed.
4. Light. The fruiting stage of Pleurotus ostreatus needs sunlight, and suitable scattered light will promote the healthy growth of Pleurotus ostreatus. If there is insufficient light, the stalk will be long or twisted, and the flesh will be thin.
If the spherical mushroom is formed due to the above reasons, as long as the temperature, humidity, light and oxygen are adjusted to a normal state, it will return to normal soon.
Therefore, it is recommended to adjust the growth environment of Pleurotus ostreatus first. After a period of observation, if the spherical mushroom improves and gradually becomes normal, continue and adjust the environmental factors. If it still cannot recover, the planting will be terminated immediately and ready to start again.
